Curriculum
Built on A Beka Book.
State Line Christian School uses the A Beka Book curriculum, which makes available the accumulated wisdom of years of experience by Christian educators in Christian schools. The Christian approach to education — and to life in general — is woven throughout it.
The A Beka Book curriculum is based upon sound precepts, common sense, and the Word of God. It ensures that students will be taught new material at each grade level and that there will be sufficient review of material.
College preparatory. A student’s core classes are chosen for him, and each student receives four years of English, math and science. State Line has been successful in preparing its students, with 90% of graduates going on to pursue college.
Grade by Grade
What each year looks like.
It is during a young person’s teenage years that he faces many life choices. Our goal is to develop Christian leaders by teaching every subject from a Christ-centered worldview.
K-4 Readiness
Our K-4 classes are designed to provide a happy learning atmosphere where our teachers can lovingly meet each child’s personal needs. We offer both morning and afternoon classes to fit with your schedule. Students learn phonics-based reading, numbers, writing, music and art — and over 90% of our four-year-old students are able to read by the end of the year.
Kindergarten
State Line offers both full-day and half-day Kindergarten. Kindergarten is an integral part of the total school program, with phonics-based reading, numbers, writing, music and art. Students completing the program participate in a cap and gown graduation ceremony.
Elementary
First through sixth grades are some of the most important years of a child’s life. Classes place a strong emphasis on foundational skills in mathematics, reading, history and language, and children are also involved in music. Each student is expected to conduct himself according to the highest Christian standards of honesty, integrity and responsibility.
Seventh Grade
Students build upon their elementary academic foundations through grammar, Old-World history, general science, basic math, physical education, music, band and Bible classes.
Eighth Grade
Students develop the tools to excel in high school through grammar, New-World history, physical science, pre-algebra, physical education, music, band and Bible classes.
Ninth Grade
Students begin preparing for their future with grammar, foreign language, geography, government, introduction to chemistry/physics, Algebra I, music, band, drama and Bible classes.
Tenth Grade
Academics become more career focused: grammar, foreign language, world history, biology, geometry, music, band, drama and Bible classes.
Eleventh Grade
College prep classes become available: grammar, speech, American history, chemistry, Algebra II, music, band, drama and Bible classes.
Twelfth Grade
Seniors finish equipped for the future with grammar, anatomy, consumer math, economics, sociology, music, band, drama and Bible classes — plus the annual senior trip.
Beyond the Core
Electives
Alongside the required core, students choose from a range of electives that let them develop their gifts and interests.
Educational field trips
While classroom instruction is important, students have many opportunities to learn through hands-on experiences. Starting in kindergarten, our students take educational field trips to develop interests throughout their younger years. The junior and senior classes take special annual field trips to the Creation Museum in Petersburg, KY and the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, IL.
